Week Recap: Eats, Treats and Beats

Hello lovelies and Happy FRI-YAY! ;)

I can't explain to y'all how excited I am that it is finally the weekend! This week has definitely been one of the busiest weeks that we've had so far this summer at work. This weekend I plan on doing a whole bunch of nothing and I can't wait! Ha! I thought I'd do a quick recap of my week so let's hop right in to this post, shall we?

Sunday morning, Tyler and I went to 'The Egg & I' for a quick breakfast... I got the most delicious waffle with bananas and strawberries and of course COFFEE! ;) (It came with sausage and eggs too but I really could have done without them.)
I thoroughly enjoy waffles and would really like to start making them at home! If you have any good suggestions for a healthy version, please let me know!

Anyhoo, Monday through Wednesday weren't really that much different at work. I've been listening to these three guys all week: (Does it really surprise anyone!?)

I did start a new workout program and I am LOVING it. My first workout was on Tuesday and let me tell ya, I felt like a baby giraffe walking in to work that next morning! Ha! My whole body is so sore but I really feel like I'm going to see great results at the end of these 12 weeks.

Thursday we had jean day at work... Those are always my favorite! Me and the work bestie matched so we had to take a picture together! (Duh!) I also had lunch with another friend (Jan) that day and we went to 'Whole Hog'. I got the giant potato! It was so good!
(Oh! I've also gotten to where I drink my coffee with only one creamer... Does that make me a legit adult now!? Hehe.)

Today at work, the managers treated us to root beer floats after a super long and busy week! I seriously love the people I work with... The job may not be perfect but I seriously wouldn't change the people for anything! <3
(My friend Alex was trying to teach me how to eat sunflower seeds properly today... Who knew it was so hard? Ha! Annnd in the right corner of this collage, I thought I'd share something I posted on snapchat earlier... Just read what I wrote, my friends know me so well! =P)

As far as other random things that have happened this week, I am STILL trying to pick out a paint color for my house. I literally have over 10 different random painted sections on my walls right now trying to decide. I really hate being so indecisive! #strugglebus Also, besides working and going to the gym, I've literally done nothing else but binge watch the heck out of the "Gilmore Girls". I finally made it to season 3 and I may have shed a few tears on the last episode of season 2. I get way too invested in these shows! Haha!

Well, I think I'll wrap up this recap for now! Tonight we're going to dinner for Tyler's birthday (even though his birthday isn't until tomorrow) and we plan on doing some more celebrating tomorrow as well. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

5 Things That Made Me Happy This Month
  1. Christ Stapleton concert- Literally the best concert ever and I can't wait to see him again!
  2. I got a frozen pink lemonade! Anyone who knows me well knows that I LOVE frozen pink lemonade but they are so hard to come by.
  3. Decluttering my Closet- Everything is so neat and organized now!
  4. I got to see my sissy! <3
  5. I got a new computer at work... Now, I can restart my computer in less than 1 minute. (That's 10 whole minutes faster than my old one!)
P.S. I'm going to start doing a little thing called "5 Things That Made Me Happy This Month" at the end of every month. I thought that would be a positive thing to do so I can look back and focus on at least five GOOD things that I got to experience throughout the month. #positivity

Love always,

"You may see me struggle, but you will never see me quit."

(I was in Dillard's the other night [buying a new purse...whoops! But more on that later...] and I heard this song come on. It's so old school but I absolutely love it. It totally brought me back to my teenage years!)

Weight-Loss Wednesday [Week 1]: Binge Eating

Hello lovelies!

Welcome to the first official week of Weight-Loss Wednesday! I'm so excited to get this series started off by talking about one of the main struggles I've had (and still deal with) on my weight-loss journey--BINGE EATING.
Have you ever had one of those days where all you want to do is eat every. single. thing. in sight? Even when you're absolutely SURE you're not hungry anymore but yet you continue to stuff your face with food-- almost to the point of making yourself sick? Yep, That was me! (And if I'm being honest, I've been struggling again with this the past few weeks... Just being real with you all!)

So what causes binge eating? Anxiety and Emotions. I've found out from experience that when I get extremely stressed out about something or if I tend to focus on negative things that may be going on in my life, I tend to binge eat. But what makes it worse is that it's only a down-hill spiral from that point on. Once I start the binging, I start feeling worse about myself which makes me binge even MORE. The mind is a funny little thing isn't it? *eye roll*

I want to share a few things that I do to help with my binge eating: (I know some of these tips aren't going to be some new/rocket science information, but sometimes it's good to be reminded.)

  • Stop Dieting: Seriously, "dieting" really messes with a person's mind. When I tell myself I'm going to start a "diet", I always fail. You have to make it a life-style or your mind will constantly tell you that you're depriving yourself. Balance is key! You can still eat anything you want as long as you don't eat it every single day-- and in large portions. Once you realize that food is NOT your enemy, you can begin to make a balanced lifestyle and find out what works for you and your body best.
  • Workout Regularly: I know people will probably roll their eyes at this tip but I can't stress to you how much moving your body makes a difference. I have noticed that when I am NOT working out regularly, I fall back in to bad habits. When I AM working out, I tend to make smarter choices all around.
  • Drink Water: When I find myself wanting to eat everything in sight, I will always chug 1-2 glasses of water first. Although I may not want water at that moment, a lot of times your body is just thirsty-- not hungry.
  • Keep a Positive Attitude/Mindset: Okay, so this is VERY important. Get rid of any negativity in your life. If there are people/friends bringing you down, say buh-bye. *insert white girl emoji* If the music you're listening to makes you sad or depressed, turn it off. If you find yourself having sad thoughts and you tend to dwell on them, make a list of all the GOOD things that you have in your life. CHOOSE to focus on the positive things! I know this can be hard-- trust me! Sometimes I feel likes there's something wrong with me because I can literally let my thoughts overtake me and I can go from having a good day to a bad one in seconds. If this happens, call a friend that can make you laugh... Listen to a song that makes you happy... or heck, go punch a punching bag if that makes you feel better! ;)
  • Forgive Yourself: If you mess up and DO binge, forgive yourself. Let it go! We are human and we all make mistakes. Get up and try again tomorrow! DO NOT GIVE UP!
This post may not help a large amount of people but if it helps even one person out there, that's fine with me! (I know it was therapeutic for me to type out!) I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Love always,

"Every positive change in your life begins with a clear, unequivocal decision that you are going to either do something or stop doing something."
(Here's an example of a song that has sort of been my "anthem" the last month or two. With some of the things that have been going on lately, I sometimes lose my positive mindset. However, I refuse to stay there so I immediately turn on this song and I instantly feel better! (I'll even put it on repeat sometimes and listen to it for 30 minutes straight! Ha!) Maybe I'm crazy... but just give it a try!)
"You can hate me underestimate me
Do what you do cause what you do don't phase me
Just when you think I'm at the end
In a second I'ma catch my second wind"

The BEST Italian Pasta Salad [Recipe]

Hello lovelies!

As promised, today I want to share the BEST Italian pasta salad recipe ever! At work the other day, someone brought a version of this pasta salad and I fell in love. I wanted to recreate it, but in a healthy way! By making some simple changes, I was able to make this pasta salad far less calories but still have all the yummy flavor. Let's jump right in!

These are all of the ingredients I used. I absolutely LOVE these turkey pepperoni's. I honestly prefer them over regular.

So the first step is to obviously cook your pasta. I added the broccoli in the boiling water when there was about 3 minutes left on the timer. I don't care for raw or crunchy broccoli--so if you're like me, that's a good way to solve that problem. Just make sure as soon as you drain the pasta and broccoli, you immediately run cold water over it to stop any further cooking.

Step two: While the pasta is cooking, I went ahead and chopped up all of my tomatoes, turkey pepperoni's, and cheese. TIP: To cut down the fat even more, I took the cheese snack bites and cut them in fourths. This way, the cheese is smaller but you're still likely to have a piece in each bite. ;)

Step 3: You literally just add all of the ingredients together and then add the Italian dressing.

And there you have it! Super easy and SUPER tasty!

1 Package of Rotini Pasta
1-2 cups of broccoli
3 servings of turkey pepperoni's (sliced in half)
3 servings of cubed cheese (sliced in fourths)
1 carton of cherry tomatoes (sliced in half)
5-6 servings of Italian dressing

Chris Stapleton, Work, Eats & Fay-Town

Hello lovlies!

I hope you all had a fabulous work week! Mine was...tiresome! Ha! I DID get a new computer though so that made me extremely happy. There were days this week that I was so busy though, I found myself sweating because I was working so hard and fast. (Um, #gross?) However, I've found that listening to my jazz pandora station seems to help me stay focused and more relaxed when I start getting stressed out.
(Sometimes I seriously think I was born in the wrong music era! Does anyone else love this style of music as much as I do?)

I have also REALLY been loving this drink from Starbucks this week! I think I have gotten it every single day. The lady that works the window knows me by name now! It's a passion fruit tea with strawberry refresher instead of water. (I also ask for them not to put the extra sugar that they usually put in it.) It's SO good! You gotta give it a try!

Thursday I worked 6:30 to 2:30 and then we headed to Tulsa to see Chris Stapleton! Before the concert, we ate at Cheesecake factory per usual. ;)
(Those fried mac-n-cheese balls are my favvvvv. <3)

Y'all, this was the best concert I have ever been to-- and that says a lot. If you know me at all, you know I love John Mayer and have always said he puts on the best concerts... Well as much as I still love John, Chris Stapleton put on one heck of a show. I was telling Tyler, there's something about country/blues artists. I can appreciate a "production" at times (pop/R&B/rock/etc.) but when a long bearded man in a cowboy hat can get up on a stage with just him and his guitar, a bass player, and a drummer-- no fancy looking stage (or huge production going on) and totally bring me to tears, you know that's RAW talent. Plain and simple! He also seemed like a legit humble person, which I can admire.

Friday morning I slept in (to 11:00 if I'm being honest) and it felt amazing! When I finally got out of bed, we got ready and headed up to Fayetteville to spend the day. We ate at "Hammontree's Grilled Cheese" and had a yummy lunch. I introduced Tyler to the Gouda and bacon sweet potato fries. They are the bomb!
(I had the Ozark Monte Cristo... I would high recommend!)

After lunch, we walked around downtown until it started pouring rain! We ran back to the car and headed to check out Guitar Center and get some ice cream.
(I want a record player so bad! I took a picture of all these records while we were at Guitar Center and it made me want one even more!)

Before we headed back home, we stopped by Whole Foods (one of my favorite places in the world...heh.) to get a couple of snacks! I've been wanting to try "Kombucha" for a while now so I finally picked some up. I'll let you know my thoughts on it! ;)
(We got stuck in traffic on the way home so we tried the apple slices and pineapple pieces... They are both delicious!)

As for today, I went and got my eyebrows sugared, we had lunch with my parents and we picked out some paint samples to try on the walls before we make the big decision! I plan on spending the rest of the day curled up in my big ol' leopard chair and watching Gilmore Girls. ;)

I hope you all have a great weekend... What's left of it that is! <3

Love always,

Weight-Loss Wednesday: Introduction

Hello lovelies and Happy Wednesday!

So, today I want to introduce a new series I'm going to start doing on my blog called "Weight-Loss Wednesday". I came up with this idea after trying to figure out a way to document my fitness journey and also get a discussion started about healthy living. I have struggled with my weight my entire life and although I have made some improvements and have lost 25+ pounds in the last two years, I feel as though I have become stagnent when it comes to my workouts and I find myself skipping the gym more and more often. I've also found myself stress eating and falling back in to bad habits. I'm determined to get out of this rut and take control.

This series is going to focus on a ton of different things-- but it will always be health and fitness related. Every Wednesday I plan on posting something related to these topics--whether it be a fitness update, healthy recipe, a workout, my go-to gym clothing, inspiration or just a few of my favorite health and fitness "hacks". I am definitely not an expert when it comes to health and fitness but I do enjoy sharing knowledge as I learn and make progress. I also think it will be really cool to look back in a years time and see the results of my hard work.

I'm starting a new 12 week workout program with a ton of different girls from around the world. (I'm talking the U.S, Canada, Australia, Europe, etc.) So, so cool! #flourishstrong (Our hashtag on instagram) We have a private Facebook page that we are all connecting on and I think it's really going to help me stay motivated. The program doesn't start for another couple weeks and we are already encouraging one another daily. (Gotta love this crazy world of social media! Ha!)

I hope you all will join along and participate with me on these Weight-Loss Wednesdays! Please leave any topics of conversation you would like to see posted. I would love to get some feedback and get a conversation going about becoming better versions of ourselves. :)

Love always,

"You will never always be motivated. You have to learn to be disciplined."

30 Before 30 Bucket List

Hello lovelies!

So today, I want to do a post that is a little different but something that I've really been thinking about a lot lately. I was inspired by a girl (Brittney) that I work with to create a 30 before 30 bucket list. I have followed Brittney's blog for a couple of years now and when I saw her post about this, I thought it would be such a neat thing for me to do as well.

I know I have a few years before I turn 30 but I honestly feel like it's creeping up on me faster than ever. Not only that, but I have a huge list of things I would like to accomplish. I thought about waiting until my next birthday to create my list but then I thought... why not start now? So let's do this! These are the things I hope to complete by March 6, 2020...

  1. Experience a jazz club
  2. Go Zip-lining
  3. Visit Colorado
  4. Read my Bible all the way through
  5. Complete the Whole 30 Program at least once
  6. Take a photography class
  7. See Christmas lights at Silver Dollar City
  8. Watch all the seasons of 'Gilmore Girls'
  9. Take a Hot Yoga class
  10. Go hiking at Whitaker Point Trail and take a picture on the cliff
  11. Save money for another Louis Vuitton
  12. Make a dessert from scratch
  13. Try an oyster
  14. Visit South Carolina
  15. Visit Savannah, GA and eat at Paula Dean's restaurant
  16. Be at my goal weight
  17. Take a dance class
  18. Paint something on a canvas
  19. Try a 9Round workout class
  20. Spend a Christmas in a log cabin
  21. Watch all seasons of 'The Office'
  22. Go to a Drive-In Movie
  23. Book a family photo session
  24. Buy a bike
  25. Take a girls-only trip
  26. Go camping
  27. Buy and play Super Mario
  28. Start a family
  29. Read 10 books
  30. Run a successful blog & blog consistently
I asked a couple of my friends at work today to make a 30 before 30 (or 35 before 35 list, because some of them have already hit the big 3-0) bucket list as well. We'll see if they do it..hehe I think it will be a lot of fun to be able to mark the things off as I complete them. What's something you would like to do before you turn 30, 40, or whatever big age you may have coming up next? I would love to hear in a comment below! :)

Love always,

Weekend Recap: Father's Day, Sister Time + More

Hello lovelies!

Well, another weekend has come and gone and it's time for another work week! Let's hop right in to this weekend recap...

Friday night I started watching the first season of 'Gilmore Girls'... I know there are SO many people that are huge fans of this show but I just never really gave it a shot. So far, I'm really enjoying it! Saturday I woke up and watched a few more episodes before my parents and sister came over for pizza. We all chilled for a bit and then they headed home while Tyler and I headed to the grocery store.

This morning, I work up and got ready to go to church with my parents for Father's Day. However, the weather was extremely bad and my sister had a super bad disaster with her hair due to the rain (smh, haha), so I decided to head to Van Buren and chill with her until my parents got out of church. The rain finally passed so we decided to head down to Starbucks and grab a coffee before we watched a few episodes of Gilmore Girls. (She's seen every season, she's kind of the reason I'm staring to watch the show!)

When my parents got home, my mom cooked a delicious lunch for us. We had steak, broccoli-cheese and rice casserole, asparagus and rolls.
(Happy Father's Day to this guy! Love you!)

After lunch, we watched some more episodes of GG and then I came home to meal prep for the week. I think in my last post I mentioned I was going to recreate that pasta salad that I had at work so that's exactly what I did...while listening to jazz music on my pandora station of course! ;) It's absolutely delishhhh! (I'm going to do a whole separate post on the recipe... So be on the lookout!)

Anyways, I think that's all for now! I'm starting a new blog schedule this week and I have so many ideas to share with you all. I hope you have a fantastic week! :)

Love always,

"Let the refining and improving of your own life keep you so busy that you have little time to criticize others."

(Jackie Lee is seriously one of the most underrated country artists out there. I got to see him in Nashville in January and the boy can SANG live. So good!)

(One more of his songs... Just because I think this song is adorable!)

Hello lovelies!

I can't explain to you all how happy I am that it is finally the weekend! This week has been so busy and crazy with stuff going on at work, I'm just ready to RELAX for the next couple of days.

I thought I'd do a quick recap of the week before I "Netflix and Chill" the rest of the night. ;) Tuesday I got to have lunch with my hubby. I usually bring my lunch to work but I totally forgot my lunch that day. We parked under this shaded tree and talked for the 45 minutes we had. It was such a beautiful day!

Wednesday after work, I went and had dinner (mexican food, my fav!) with my mom and friend, Jan. It was her birthday a couple days earlier so I clearly had to make the waiters bring out the sombrero and embarrass her a little bit! ;) I also made a run to target to get another planner and wound up with a super cute hat too!
(Isn't it adorable?)

Yesterday we had a food day at work and I had some of the best pasta salad everrrrrr. I'm going to try and recreate it (a healthier version) this week for my lunches. I'll let you know how it turns out! <3
(This is about the most unhealthy looking picture in the world, haha!)

Last night, I had dinner with a couple friends and then did a little shopping afterwards. That brings us to today! I woke up this morning to get ready for work and Tyler was super sick. He wound up having to go to the ER. Thankfully, he is doing okay now but I left work around 11 AM to come home and be with him. While he was sleeping, I watched a movie on Netflix called "Chocolat" and it was super good! It was about a mother and daughter who move in to this French village where the people are super stuck in their ways and traditions and the lady and daughter change their lives with their chocolate shop. Oh, and Johnny Depp was in the movie soooo, um yes! ;)

Anyways, now I'm watching another movie called "Elizabethtown" and it has Orlando Bloom in it so I guess I'll sign off for now! Hehe. If you're not following me on twitter, you totally should! I've really been enjoying it the last few days. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Love always,

"Get out of your own way."

New Blog!

Hello lovelies!

If you are new to my blog, welcome! If you're a usual, you may notice my blog got a little bit of a "facelift" this past week. I. AM. SO. EXCITED. I told myself if I stuck to blogging for at least 3 months, I would put a little money in to making it look nicer. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out... I'm all about the clean and classy look! <3

(You can now get to all of my social media accounts under the "Get Social" tab! Yay!)

With all the updating to my blog, I feel like it's been a HOT minute since I last posted. Y'all, I'm going to be honest about something...I have NOT been doing good with my healthy eating. For example:

Why does food have to be so tasty? Ha! It's okay though... Even though my diet hasn't been spot on, I have still been hitting the gym daily. I know you can't outwork a bad diet but at least I'm still staying active. I was pretty spot on with my macros today and I am determined to stay on track the rest of the week.
(Yeah, I wasn't feeling this workout... Ha!)

In other news, we are about to start a huge project at our house. When we bought this house almost 6 years ago, we picked out such dark colors for our walls. (I don't know what we were thinking!) However, we had a guy come by tonight and give us a quote for repainting our living room, foyer, kitchen and bedroom. I am not looking forward to moving all this furniture but I definitely think it will be worth it in the end. I'm ready for clean and bright walls.

Oh! I also spent 7 hours straight purging my house on Sunday! I got rid of 80% of my closet and I felt so much better once it was complete.

Right now we are watching the NBA playoffs. I really hope Golden State takes it home tonight! Before I sign off for the night, I wanted to share this adorable picture of my husband! Hehe. (He may kill me, but it's alright!) We went to Old Navy this past weekend and I begged him to try on a pair of ripped jeans. He was NOT happy about it... but guess what? He wound up loving them and I just had to take a picture before we headed to dinner last night! ;)
(You can't even see the rips in the jeans but oh well... I am still proud that he rocked them with no shame!)

Anyways, I hope you all have a great week!

Love always,

We must keep putting one foot in front of the other even when we hurt, for we will never know what is waiting for us just around the bend."

Week Recap: Eats, Vacation & Workouts

Happy Saturday, lovelies!

Let's hop right in to this blog post...

This week flew by since I was off work on Monday for Memorial Day. I think I could get used to working four days a week! Ha! Speaking of Memorial Day, Tyler and I got our first snow cones of the season--they were delish!

Nothing too exciting happened during the week if I'm honest... HOWEVER, we did finally book our summer vacation! *woot woot* We were planning on going to the beach but since my cousin is getting married in Georgia (in November), we decided to do something a little bit closer this year so we weren't making that long drive twice. Tyler and I absolutely LOVE Big Cedar Lodge! It's a gorgeous resort in the Ozark Mountains and it is one of our favorite spots to go. Not only are the views beautiful (I'll insert a super old picture from one of the first times we went below-- just ignore the camera quality! Heh.), but they have great restaurants, amazing pools and hot tubs & a ton of other fun things to do on the grounds. I'm super excited... We are going to be there for 7 nights! <3
(This is the view from one of our favorite hot tubs at the resort. Again, excuse the quality-- it's from a super old iPhone. But try and tell me that's not gorgeous!)

Anyways, now that vacation is booked... I am SUPER focused on my diet and workouts. This week was really good... I pushed myself to get all my workouts in and I have my meals completely planned out for this coming week. #goals
(Check out my new bestie in the background... He's the coolest! ;) Heh.)

Yesterday after work, Tyler and I got a quick workout in and then got a bite to eat at the Gyro restaurant. It was super tasty!

After eating, we went to Walmart and got our grocery shopping done for the week! Like I said, I have all my meals planned out (and tracked in my Cronometer app) and I was actually pleasantly surprised at how little our grocery bill was after buying the amount of food that we did. I'm tellin' ya, if you don't use coupons-- you totally should! ;) We spent the rest of the evening watching 'The Office'... of course! Ha!

This morning, I finally finished the book I've been reading... It was so good! Now I'm on to the last book in the series called "Just a Kiss":

We met my parents for lunch at 'River City Deli'. Other than that, I haven't done much of anything else today-- which I'm totally ok with! I think I am going to give my house a total spring cleaning next weekend... I feel like it needs it!

Anyhoo, I think that's going to be all for now. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Love always,
