2018: New Year, New Resolutions

Hello lovelies and Happy New Year!

I hope you all are having a great day thus far! Tyler and I just got home from grocery shopping and we plan on staying in the rest of the day. It is FREEZING cold and I don't want to do anything but stay in my PJs and watch the OU and Alabama playoff games. *Roll Tide!!* But before I get my "football cheering" on, I wanted to post a few New Years Resolutions I have for 2018.

2017 was a year of LESSONS LEARNED-- and as much as those lessons weren't always fun, it's made me a much stronger person! 

I know some folks aren't big "New Years Resolution" people. I get it, sometimes you can set all of these new and exciting goals and then a few weeks down the road, you've already failed at them. It can be extremely discouraging-- Trust me, I've been there! Ha! However, I like to see this as a time of "re-prioritizing" and making small goals that I would like to achieve in my every day life. I thought it would be fun to blog about the resolutions I've made. I would LOVE to hear about any goals you have set for yourself as well. Feel free to leave them in the comment section below! :)

New Years Resolution List

Cook More Often: This is definitely top of the list! I always tell people "I am NOT a good cook" but I honestly think I just haven't given it much effort. I want to start posting more healthy recipes on my blog and inspire people that they can cook too if they set their mind to it. 

Drink More Water: I have always been a huge water drinker. However, this past year, I've gotten on a diet soda kick and have found myself drinking more and more diet drinks than ever before. When I go to a restaurant, if they have Diet Dr. Pepper, you better believe I'm going to get one. I want to get back to where ordering water is just..."second nature" for me. 

Save More Money: This one is probably going to be the most difficult for me! Ha! Tyler is definitely the money saver in our household-- but I hope to change that this year. I love shopping and I love to eat. I know that's where a lot of my money goes but then at other times, I won't have a CLUE where that 100-150 dollars a month has gone. Am I the only one? LOL You can do this Charity... You can do this!

Talk More, Text Less & No More Vague Plans: The first part of this one is something I've already been working on lately, but I want to put it in full force this year! I have always been a HUGE "texter"... Having real conversation has always made me nervous for some reason. Anxiety much? *eye roll* I've really been loving FaceTime-- I feel like texting has become a crutch for most people and I've found that you can form deeper relationships when you can talk to someone face-to-face. (Or voice-to-voice!) I totally get there's times for texting over calling someone but I'm going to start making a bigger effort to make real conversation from here on out. As far as the second part of this resolution goes, I'm also going to make an effort to say goodbye to "vague plans"-- you know the ones where you see a certain person/group of people and constantly say "we should totally do coffee or lunch one day" and it never happens. Ha! If you are truly friends with someone, you can make the time to actually follow through with a plan... It's pretty simple to do!

Take Care of Myself: Instead of saying "lose weight" or "eat healthier"--things that most of us always say we're going to do in the New Year, I'm just going to focus on taking care of myself. Plain and simple. I'm going to make better choices in every area of my life-- physical, mental, spiritual, etc. I'm going to focus on being the best version of myself that I can be. I am definitely NOT perfect and I have a lot of things to work on-- but I am aware. That's always the first step! I'm going to practice being more patient, work on my own insecurities and ultimately, love harder.

I hope you all found this interesting and hopefully it helped you think of a few things you would like to improve for yourself in the new year. I have so many new things planned for my blog in 2018 and I can't wait to share them with you all. <3
